The Namibia Red Cross Society is governed by its constitution and is working towards achieving its goals according to its National strategic plan 2006-2010.
The NRCS has the following governing structures:
· The General Assembly
· The Governing Board
· The Finance Commission
· Regional Boards
· District Committees and,
· Local Committees
The members of the governing bodies are representative of the different stakeholders in the Namibian nation and the General Assembly represents the National Society as a whole and is composed of:
· The members of the Governing Board;
· Two additional members of the Regional Boards.
The General Assembly is the highest authority of the National Society and meets once a year.
The Governing Board is the body governing the National Society between sessions of the General Assembly and is composed of:
· The Chairperson and two Vice-Chairpersons
· The Treasurer shall be the Chairperson of the Finance Commission;
· All chairpersons of the Regional Boards;
· Two outstanding individuals, chosen by the Governing Board for their specific competencies or because of their special interest in the National Society.
The Secretary General is responsible for the overall management of the National Society and two departments (Operations, programmes and quality assurance and the finance and administration) operate under the Secretary General’s office. National managers run these two departments.
The regional offices are managed by the Regional Managers, who are responsible for the management and coordination of programmes at regional level.
