Members of
the media,
Ladies and
gentlemen.
It is my
pleasure and honor to welcome each one of you to this
function. I would like to thank you all for sacrificing your
time to be with us at this important occasion. I know you
are very busy people, you could have sent an apology, but
you chose to come and be here with us. I sincerely
appreciate your coming.
I am
particularly delighted to welcome the representative to the
Right Honorable Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia,
Honorable Nahas Angula who could not be here with us because
of other national duties.
We are
further honored by the presence of Mrs. Francoise Le-Goff,
the Head of Southern Africa Zone who travelled all the way
from South Africa to witness this occasion. We are delighted
that Mrs. Legoff could join us a very special welcome to
you madam.
I am pleased
to acknowledge the presence of Mr. Hoveka The chairman of
Rossing Uranium who is representing our donors. Ladies and
gentlemen, I am equally delighted and privileged to welcome
all our corporate donors represented here today to be part
of this unique day dedicated to them. We are gathered here
today because of your dedication and support you have given
to the Society over the past years, and most importantly
your contributions towards the 2008 flood disaster. We
cannot emphasize enough how much the affected community
appreciated your assistance and thus your presence here is
merely to say thank you to you all on behalf of the entire
Namibian community.
I would also
like to extend a warm welcome to all representatives from
the media, who as usual are the eyes and ears of society who
played an important role in exposing the plight and the
dangers that were posed by the floods as well as keeping the
whole nation informed on the disaster. Some of the media
houses played an important role by using their services to
solicit funds for the Namibia Red Cross Society from members
of the public and from neighbouring South Africa.
Distinguished guests, the Namibia Red Cross Society is
deeply committed to support efforts of our government in
meeting the needs of vulnerable people in our communities.
Today is an indication of how the Namibia Red Cross Society
being a humanitarian organization can forge a strong
partnership with the corporate sector to render humanitarian
aid to the vulnerable. As chairperson of Namibia Red Cross
Society, I feel honored to be involved with the Red Cross
Society where I have to say they make me work harder to
bring smiles in the faces of the vulnerable members of our
community.
On behalf of
the Namibia Red Cross Society, I wish to welcome all of you
again to this occasion. Your presence is much appreciated.
Thank you. |
